GUPC
Panama Canal enlargement– Panama
SOTRES, known the world over, as a specialist into mineral matters process, had the opportunity to supply complete both plants for GUPC Panama (on the Pacific and Atlantic sides) to treat sand and clarifying water for the materials production in order to prepare concrete for the PANAMA canal enlargement.
Each plant is designed to treat 2500 m³/ h of washing water containing 600 t/h of sand to provide a low cutting of 200 meshes with hydroseparators and a sand classification at 1.5 mm. This process has enabled to produce two sands 200 mesh/1.5 mm and 1.5/4 mm for a recomposition following an ideal grading curve of specifications.
The required water for screening and washing used for this process, is treated in a clarifier of 24 m diameter , which can continuously recycled during the plant working in closed circuit. The concentrated sludge removed from this system can be then definitely stored.
